Sahih Therapy

A practice built on what therapy should have been all along.

صحيح Sahih is Arabic for authentic, sound, true — the standard Hira holds to and the experience she is determined every Sahih client will have.

Why Hira built Sahih

In her own clinical practice, the same sentence kept arriving in Hira’s consultation room, said in different words but always meaning the same thing: “This is the first time I’ve felt that a therapist really cared.” For many of these clients — people of color, children of immigrants, Muslim, multilingual, navigating layered identities — that recognition was not a compliment but an indictment of how the field had failed to meet them. Hira built Sahih so genuine, identity-aware care would become the standard rather than the rare exception, and so she could personally curate every clinician — not on credentials alone, but on whether their heart is truly in the work — and hold them to that standard, session after session.

The Sahih Belief

The relationship between client and therapist is the work.

It is the strongest predictor of safe, lasting change across decades of clinical research. High-functioning is not the same as well. Faith, family, race, language, and the parts of identity most rooms cannot hold are not adjacent to therapy — they often are the therapy. Methods without warmth are pressure; warmth without method is friendship. Both are required.

The Sahih Match

Therapists are not assigned by availability. Hira personally curates every match. Clients are invited to share what they are looking for in radical specificity — race, religion, modality, personality, language, identity, every detail that matters — because you know yourself best, and what feels most like home. Therapy should feel like the safest space in your week, and Hira will keep looking until the fit is right. That may take longer than a standard practice that matches on a calendar opening. That is the point.

Who is Sahih

Sahih is led by founder Hira Kissana, MA, LMFT, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Concord, California. Sahih is a carefully curated practice growing around clinicians who share her standard of care.

Where Sahih serves

Sahih is a California-based psychotherapy practice offering telehealth sessions exclusively to residents of California, with intentions to expand thoughtfully into additional states as the practice grows — always following the same standard, each clinician personally curated by Hira and each match personally reviewed.

Modalities held inside the relationship

EMDR Basic Training, psychodynamic, and Internal Family Systems; somatic and trauma-focused work; narrative therapy; culturally and religiously integrated care when wanted; couples therapy. The methods are evidence-based. The room is human.

The therapy room should feel like the safest place in your week.

Tell Hira what you're looking for — race, religion, modality, personality, language, identity. The more specific, the better. Hira will hand-pick a therapist who fits, and if it isn't right, she will keep looking until it is.
